Pratt Miller Motorsports Victory at VIR

Sept 30TH, 2025

At Motorsports Gateway Howell, we had the privilege of hosting leaders from Pratt Miller Motorsports during our Member Orientation event on August 21. Just three days later, they showed the world exactly why they’re among the most respected names in sports car racing.

A Statement at VIR

On August 24, the No. 3 Corvette Z06 GT3.R, driven by Antonio Garcia and Alexander Sims, stormed to victory at Virginia International Raceway (VIR). It was a performance that embodied what we’ve come to expect from Pratt Miller: strategic precision, consistent pace, and the ability to deliver when it counts most.

The team’s aggressive undercut on the first pit stop set the tone. Once in clean air, Garcia and Sims never relinquished control, leading 41 of the 81 laps and holding off a hard-charging Ferrari to claim their first win of the 2025 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season. The victory wasn’t an upset — it was an affirmation. Pratt Miller came to VIR as points leaders, and they left with that lead intact and extended.

“It was a fantastic strategy by Pratt Miller to go aggressive on the first stop and then try to make something happen, and we did,” said Sims. “The Corvette was on rails.”

Garcia, celebrating his fifth VIR win, echoed the sentiment: “Finally! It feels like VIR has always been good for us. It was a perfect race. Alex did a fantastic job. I’m very, very happy for this team and for Team Chevy.”

Battle on the Bricks

Momentum carried into Indianapolis for the TireRack Battle on the Bricks, where Pratt Miller again demonstrated the strength of their program. The No. 3 Corvette fought strategically and consistently, finishing fourth in class. While just shy of the podium, it was exactly the kind of result needed to keep the bigger picture in sight: the IMSA GTD Pro Championship.

The Championship Picture

With only the 10-hour Motul Petit Le Mans on Saturday, October 11 remaining, Garcia and Sims sit atop the GTD Pro standings, holding an 18-point advantage over Albert Costa and the No. 81 DragonSpeed Ferrari. It’s a razor-thin margin in championship terms, but it reflects what’s been true all season: Pratt Miller Motorsports is setting the pace.

Why It Matters Here

For Motorsports Gateway members, these results feel personal. We’ve shaken the same hands that are calling race-winning strategies and driven the same brand of machines that are delivering on the world stage. The win at VIR and the championship fight that followed aren’t just headlines — they’re part of a story our community is connected to directly.

As the IMSA season heads to its conclusion at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, one thing is certain: Pratt Miller Motorsports isn’t chasing history. They’re continuing it.
